On first night of use, the Aloha sealed well (0 leakage indicated) and was very comfortable & quiet, whether sleeping on my back or on my side. The comfort factor was aided significantly by two factors: the nasal interface seems well-designed, as I was able to achieve a perfect seal with the headgear relatively loose; and the ball-joint style connection between the nasal interface and inlet hose has a good range of motion, which accommodates a wide variety of head positions, without stressing the joint or pulling the pillows out of place. The headgear was padded well on the cheeks, very adjustable, and unobtrusive (could put on / take off glasses easily with mask on).
My previous mask was a ResMed Swift LT, and I can say that the Aloha is better in almost every respect. The Swift developed leaks over time, particularly at the swivel-joint connection between the nasal interface and inlet hose; the Aloha's ball-joint connection seems to be a much better design. The Swift was pretty comfortable, especially compared to a standard nasal mask, but the Aloha is better. The Swift was relatively quiet, but the Aloha is much quieter. The Swift sealed well most of the time, but it always leaked a little when I shifted in my sleep, sometimes waking me up; in contrast, the Aloha sealed perfectly all night long.
The only potential concern I have about the Aloha at this point is reliability. Just from looking at the design, I wonder about the mounting arms that connect the nasal interface to the headgear (i.e., the "nasal pillow frame"); these are made of a hard, plastic-like material that seems pretty strong but is not terribly thick. This makes the frame slightly flexible, which probably helps with mask comfort, but I don't know how much stress it can take or how long it will last. However, based on many, many reviews of this mask I've found on the net, I think my concerns are probably unfounded. (Honestly, based on the obvious design and build quality of the Aloha, I'd be extremely surprised by a hardware failure of any kind.)
In summary, this seems like an excellent nasal pillow mask, especially for the price. It's as if someone took my old ResMed Swift LT and improved it in EVERY way. If I'm still this happy about the Aloha in a month's time, I'll buy a second as a spare (and post a follow-up review).
