Most comfortable nasal pillow mask, low leakage

I have been on CPAP Therapy for 8 months now and have tried 4 different nasal pillow masks (including Resmed Swift, Resmed Airfit, Nuance Pro Gel, and now the Aloha). By far, this mask was easiest to adjust and rested most comfortably on my nose and face/scalp. Easy to wear with glasses, headphones without any overlap. Leakage also was minimal despite there being minimal pressure on my nose. It's definitely a keeper.

Leaky or Uncomfortable

I've been using a CPAP machine now for about 6 months and have had a very hard time finding a mask that I can actually sleep with. I bought this one because of the reviews I've read here and elsewhere. It's easy to adjust for size and it comes with S, M and L nasal pillows however I don't find it to be very comfortable. When I get it adjusted so that it's comfortable, it leaks air and is a bit noisy. It I adjust it so it doesn't leak, then it keeps me awake. I haven't been able to find the "happy medium"... if there is one.

Olé Aloha

As a cpap user for around 16 years I have tried almost every mask made. I prefer the nasal pillow type and want the hose to run over my head (not down from my chin). I received this mask from the CPAPoutlet.ca very quickly (they must have pull with Canada Post) and experienced my first evening last night with the mask. It is very light and does not exert it's presence. The pillows are very forgiving, tossing and turning and sleeping on either side did not produce escaping air once, I repeat - once. This morning whilst inspecting my old mug in the mirror I noticed that for the first time in years I did not have strap marks embedded in my jowls. That was a treat, I will not longer get the inquiring looks from the BDSM crowd and that might not be so bad. I recommend this mask highly, a bit pricey but like all purchases, "Quality does not cost - it pays!"

First night impressions

On first night of use, the Aloha sealed well (0 leakage indicated) and was very comfortable & quiet, whether sleeping on my back or on my side. The comfort factor was aided significantly by two factors: the nasal interface seems well-designed, as I was able to achieve a perfect seal with the headgear relatively loose; and the ball-joint style connection between the nasal interface and inlet hose has a good range of motion, which accommodates a wide variety of head positions, without stressing the joint or pulling the pillows out of place. The headgear was padded well on the cheeks, very adjustable, and unobtrusive (could put on / take off glasses easily with mask on). My previous mask was a ResMed Swift LT, and I can say that the Aloha is better in almost every respect. The Swift developed leaks over time, particularly at the swivel-joint connection between the nasal interface and inlet hose; the Aloha's ball-joint connection seems to be a much better design. The Swift was pretty comfortable, especially compared to a standard nasal mask, but the Aloha is better. The Swift was relatively quiet, but the Aloha is much quieter. The Swift sealed well most of the time, but it always leaked a little when I shifted in my sleep, sometimes waking me up; in contrast, the Aloha sealed perfectly all night long. The only potential concern I have about the Aloha at this point is reliability. Just from looking at the design, I wonder about the mounting arms that connect the nasal interface to the headgear (i.e., the "nasal pillow frame"); these are made of a hard, plastic-like material that seems pretty strong but is not terribly thick. This makes the frame slightly flexible, which probably helps with mask comfort, but I don't know how much stress it can take or how long it will last. However, based on many, many reviews of this mask I've found on the net, I think my concerns are probably unfounded. (Honestly, based on the obvious design and build quality of the Aloha, I'd be extremely surprised by a hardware failure of any kind.) In summary, this seems like an excellent nasal pillow mask, especially for the price. It's as if someone took my old ResMed Swift LT and improved it in EVERY way. If I'm still this happy about the Aloha in a month's time, I'll buy a second as a spare (and post a follow-up review).
